News Release: CIMCO Eco Chill Included On The Environmental Investigation Agency’s Pathway To Net-zero Cooling Product List

TORONTO, ON – CIMCO Refrigeration’s Eco Chill system earned a spot on the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) Pathway to Net-Zero Cooling Product List, which launched last month. The international product database, developed to support the transition away from super-polluting refrigerant gases like hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), was designed to help businesses and consumers make sustainable cooling choices. It features products selected by the EIA and Greenpeace in major cooling sectors including commercial, industrial, domestic and transport refrigeration. 

The list was compiled based on three key criteria: direct emissions (refrigerant), indirect emissions (energy) and accessibility (a consumer’s ability to purchase the product). The final selection features products that run on refrigerants with negligible-to-zero Global Warming Potential, are energy-efficient, and can be purchased globally. The Eco Chill was the only ice rink solution that made the cut.

Many municipalities have a climate target to hit net-zero emissions within the next 30 years, and the Eco Chill’s capability to offset natural gas will be key to reaching that goal, says Fauser. “We’re excited to be able to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint, and to help in the world’s collective effort to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.”
