A Team Effort

House of Raeford’s crisis began on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 11 AM when Jeff Douglas, Account Manager, from CIMCO received an emergency call reporting an ammonia (NH3/ R717) refrigerant leak from a ruptured valve body in the facility's mechanical room. The situation was critical, as the facility faced a potential production stoppage for Monday morning if not addressed immediately.

By 2 PM, following an urgent company-wide request for a Danfoss pressure regulator, Chase Sly, Senior Engineering Manager, located the necessary part at CIMCO's Duncan facility. Simultaneously, Service Technician Rob Richey was dispatched to manage valve isolation and drain the 40F pressure vessel.

The response effort continued to gain momentum when Kyle Bryant, Manufacturing Superintendent, interrupted his birthday celebrations to provide access to the required part. With the necessary part acquired, Jeff then headed to the chicken producer’s location, arriving just after 9 PM.

The cross-functional CIMCO team expanded as Kevin and Scottie Simmons transported essential welding equipment to the site. By 9:30 PM, the vessel had drained of its ammonia, and Scottie Simmons could cut out the leaking valve and weld it in the new one.

At 11 PM, the vessel was recharged with ammonia, and by 1 AM Monday, the system was fully operational, enabling the facility to resume normal production operations a few hours later at 6 AM.

A Job Well Done

Thanks to the coordinated effort of all team members involved, the situation was dealt with efficiently and effectively, resulting in another satisfied customer.

"The facility was able to start production as per normal Monday, crisis averted," reported Jeff. "They were extremely grateful for the level of responsiveness received from CIMCO."

This incident and how it was managed highlights CIMCO’s commitment to customer service and the company's ability to mobilize resources across facilities to address critical situations.

“We also go the extra mile for our customers,” concluded Jeffrey Hinson, Vice President of CIMCO USA.
