CIMCO Refrigeration is expanding its presence in the North American industrial heat pump market through a new strategic partnership with Everllence USA Inc., formerly MAN Energy Systems USA Inc. The agreement brings large-scale industrial steam heat pumps to CIMCO's portfolio, offering facilities a direct alternative to traditional steam boilers.

Everllence, headquartered in Germany, brings its engineering and manufacturing expertise in turbomachinery for large-scale heat pump applications to the partnership. As a technology provider to the shipping, energy, and industrial sectors, the company operates more than 120 locations worldwide, with its North and South American regional headquarters in Houston, Texas.

In 2024, Everllence commissioned its first mega heat pump for the district heating network in Esbjerg, Denmark, replacing fossil-based heat and saving around 120,000 tons of CO2 annually. In North America, the company is delivering a 35 MW industrial-scale steam heat pump project for Vicinity Energy in Boston, harnessing climate-neutral thermal energy from the Charles River to decarbonize urban district heating. Everllence’s compressors are certified by the American Petroleum Institute (API 617).

Under the partnership agreement signed in late 2024, Everllence and CIMCO will work together to supply complete heat pump compressors and systems to the North American market for large-scale steam or hot water heating systems.

The collaboration addresses a growing market need for high-capacity heat pump solutions capable of producing hot water temperatures up to 250 °F and generating steam up to 572 °F for district heating applications. For facilities with existing steam systems, particularly heritage buildings, this solution offers a key advantage: the ability to replace steam boilers with steam heat pumps without overhauling internal piping and radiators, as would be required with hydronic heat pumps.

CIMCO underwent an extensive qualification and auditing process before being selected as Everllence's preferred North American partner, and the team is very excited about what this partnership means for the future.

"Everything we do at CIMCO comes back to our motto: Built for You. We ask customers what they need, and we deliver. With Everllence as our partner, we can now deliver on an even bigger scale," concludes Benoit Rogier, Director of Business Development, CIMCO.
